The team at Namati Health is deeply rooted in communities and reflects the people we serve. We are a women-led organization, and 56 of our 57 staff are Mozambican.

Each of us chose this work because we've witnessed what happens when health systems fail the people who need them most. We are health workers, legal advocates, community organizers, and activists united by one conviction: healthcare is a human right. Together, we're building a movement to ensure everyone can access the care they deserve.

Leadership

Nadja Gomes

Nadja’s commitment to justice has been an essential part of her for as long as she can remember. She brings over two decades of experience spanning civil society work, community engagement and teaching. Nadja earned her law degree in 2003 from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane, where she is a professor and led the Legal Aid Clinic. She also holds a postgraduate degree in human rights and a master's degree in legal and political sciences from Universidade de Lisboa and Universidade Eduardo Mondlane. Prior to launching Namati Moçambique, she worked for the League of Human Rights where she focused on advancing health rights, land and environmental rights, and gender equity. Nadja is a regular participant on national radio and television programs. She was one of three leaders chosen to travel to the Obama White House to represent Mozambique at the Presidential Forum with Young African Leaders.

Leadership

Ellie Feinglass

Ellie has dedicated the past 25 years to advancing health equity and social justice across sub-Saharan Africa. Before moving to Mozambique in 2009, she served as Director of the Program on Social and Economic Rights for Partners in Health in Neno, Malawi. Her experience spans both grassroots implementation and large-scale program leadership, including launching the Clinton Foundation’s pediatric HIV/AIDS program in Malawi and working in Nkwanta, Ghana with the Population Council and Ghana Health Service on scaling-up the national Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) initiative to increase access to health care for the rural poor. Ellie holds an MSc in maternal and child health from the Harvard School of Public Health and a BA from Northwestern University.

Leadership

Eduardo Malo

Malo brings two decades of grassroots advocacy experience in health and human rights. He previously served as Community Programs Coordinator for Geração BIZ (2002-2006), advancing adolescents' sexual and reproductive rights; worked with TRÔCAIRE (2007-2011) on gender-based violence and HIV prevention; and served as Program Officer for Pathfinder International in Cabo Delgado (2011-2014), supporting sex workers and other marginalized communities. At Namati since 2014, Malo oversees health advocates nationwide and collaborates with the Ministry of Health to improve national policy and health worker training. He holds a degree in Human Resources Management from Universidade Pedagógica de Moçambique.

Leadership

Zulficar Buraimo

Zulficar has 20 years of experience in finance and administration. Prior to joining Namati in 2017, he served as Director of Operations and Technology for Ecobank (2014-2016). Earlier in his career, Zulficar worked for Banco ProCredit – a microfinance bank where he held a number of key positions, including CFO and Director of Internal Audits (2004-2014). He is co-founder and CEO of BurInvest Group, an investment holding company. Zulficar holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in Maputo and a Certificate of Banking Management from Procredit Academy in Frankfurt, Germany. He is currently completing a second degree in accounting and auditing.
